Mercia Floors joins Cameron Smith Racing

Nuneaton flooring specialist backs the Walter Hayes Trophy campaign at Silverstone this November

Nuneaton flooring specialist Mercia Floors (opens in new tab)has come on board as an official partner of Cameron Smith Racing, backing the campaign at this year’s Walter Hayes Trophy.

The Walter Hayes Trophy is the biggest Formula Ford event in the world — a single weekend at Silverstone, on 31 October and 1 November, drawing entries from across Britain, Europe and beyond. It is the most prestigious date in the category’s calendar and the closest thing junior single-seater racing has to a cup final.

Mercia Floors has supplied and fitted domestic and commercial flooring across the Midlands for more than twenty-five years, working out of Nuneaton — twenty-five miles up the road from Silverstone. The company is run by Pete Clarke.

The partnership goes beyond branding on the car. It includes a package of filmed content made in-house: Cameron graduated from University of the Arts London Film and TV course with a distinction, and writes, shoots and edits his own campaign films. Pete will be in the garage at Silverstone across the race weekend to get in on the action

Cameron, 19, races Formula Ford 1600 — the category that launched Jenson Button and Mark Webber. Born in Los Angeles and now based in Leamington Spa, he has more than fifty races behind him, finished second in the 2023 California Karting Championship, and came back from a shattered leg to win again within six months. He races under the number 82, after the Lotus-Ford that Jim Clark took to the 1965 Indianapolis 500.
